Summary
This was the first time the Winter Track League has held a team penathlon. The Pentathlon consists of 5 events - 55m hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 1000m. In a regular pentathlon each person does all five events, for the team pentathlon you have teams of 5 people, each doing a single event. Each time, distance, or height gets a score based on a set of scoring tables and the team with the highest score wins.
Each school was allowed up to two girls teams and two boys teams for a total of 20 athletes. 18 different schools attended the meet on the boys' side and 20 on the girls'. Roughly half the teams were from Division I and half from Division II.
Our teams placed respectably on both the girls' and boys' sides. The boys placed 11th and 25th out of a total of 33 teams. The girls placed 14th and 16th out of 37 teams entered.
We had some excellent performances, mostly on the running side of things.
In the hurdles we had 3 PRs (Zoie, Kaitlin, James) and 1 Tied PR (Jacob).
In the 1000m we had 1 first time performance (Ben) and 3 PRs (Charlotte, Lauren, David).
Charlotte's PR was by almost 20 seconds which shows how far she's come in the last year since she hadn't run the 1000m this year yet.
Liv M. also PRs in the shot while Liv T. tied her PRs in the high jump at the opening height.
New Open Qualifiers
Kaitlin's PR time was fast enough beat the Open qualifying standard so she can now run hurdles in the next two meets and take a shot at states.
